With summer vacation now underway for school-aged youth, there are a couple of programs coming up next week with the Jefferson Parks and Recreation Department to give kids something to do.

JPRD Assistant Director Henry Pohlmeyer says Laser Tag will be happening on Monday from 1:30-3:30pm at the Greene County Community Center for 1st-6th graders. He notes that there is limited space available and JPRD will furnish the equipment and turn the gym space into an obstacle course for the participants.

The other program takes place on Tuesday with the Hy-Vee Healthy Snack Class from 3-4pm for kindergarten through 4th grade. Pohlmeyer says Hy-Vee staff will teach kids how to make nutritional snacks that they can make themselves at home, with the class also taking place at the community center.

The registration fee for either program is $10 for community center members and $15 for non-members. Contact the community center at 515-386-3412 or click the link below to sign up for the programs.
