A non-profit organization in the Perry community is utilizing a grant to upgrade equipment at a local park.

Perry Rotary Club President Kevin Vidergar explains their non-profit organization is celebrating its 100th year in 2025 and developed the idea to install an exclusive playground at Wiese Park. He shares that thanks to the Wiese Foundation and the City of Perry, they were able to create a basic playground in the park, but they want to add a piece of interactive equipment for either youth or adults to use. He outlines that the rotary club was given a $15,000 grant from the Dallas County Foundation and Grow Greene County to assist with the project. Vidergar elaborates on the design concept.

“If you picture like a half circle that both ends are anchored into the ground, and then it kind of looks like a fence, and it has lights all over it. And what happens basically is there’s programs you can pick where the links will blink and then you have to move to touch the light and turn it off.”

Vidergar reveals the name of the equipment is called “Movmnt,” and would be suitable for children, adults, and those in wheelchairs. In addition to the equipment, Vidergar details that the rotary club will be working on installing several benches and shades at Wiese Park. He notes that construction for the “Movmnt” equipment should begin sometime this summer.
