Additional information has been released from Hotel Pattee in Perry pertaining to the damage from a water leak that occurred on Monday.

According to Manager Jenny Eklund, staff members noticed water dripping from the ceiling on the third floor around 4pm on Monday. She says that employees needed to remove the ceiling panel to get a proper look, and discovered that the panel was holding a substantial amount of water, which came pouring down. After that, Eklund describes that employees took a towel to check the pipe nearby and when the towel and pipe made contact with each other, it then caused the pipe to burst.

She notes that one room on the third floor was flooded, which trickled down to the room below, and eventually made its way to the lobby area. Although there is water damage, Eklund is thankful that people didn’t have to evacuate the hotel.

“This week we’ve made some adjustments that have worked out for everyone. And then, of course being in the situation we’re in, we’ve had to cancel reservations here for the later part of this week.”

Eklund extends her gratitude to Rainbow International for their quick response with treating the leak as she states that the flooded rooms and lobby area are currently being dried out. Eklund adds that the hotel is trying to move already scheduled events to other locations, including the Courtyard Café in Soumas Court. She concludes the hotel and restaurant will remain closed to guests the remainder of this week, but has not announced an official date to re-open at this time.
