The Perry Public Library is kicking off their Summer Reading Program with a fun event for youth to enjoy today.

Youth Services Librarian Laura Pieper welcomes everyone out to KidsFest from 10:30am-1:30pm, which will include lots of activities. She mentions this year’s Summer Reading Program theme is “Leveling Up at the Library,” and in coordination with that, there is a gaming truck on site filled with a variety of consoles, so that youth can choose their favorite game to play.

Pieper says there is also a foam blaster, a Science, Technology, Engineering, Arts and Math (STEAM) station with Iowa PBS Kids, along with water activities, a dunk tank, outdoor games and a petting zoo. Pieper adds that the Perry Volunteer Fire Department is serving a $1 meal of hotdogs and pork loins to guests. KidsFest is happening outside of the library, 1101 Willis Avenue, and Raccoon Valley Radio’s Lil’ Big Red Radio will be in attendance for the duration of the event playing music and doing live broadcasts.
