Greene County met West Marshall in State Center on Friday night in Heart of Iowa Activities Conference softball. Coach Tom Kennedy’s Rams lost 7-5 on a two-run walk-off home run in the bottom of the seventh inning to fall to 4-5 overall and 3-3 in conference play. Greene County fell behind late before tying the game at 7-7 then came the Trojans’ game winning homer.

Jillian Karsjen and Lillian Fischer both homered and drove in two runs for the Trojans, now 7-3 overall and 5-2 in conference games. Lilly Zahnd had a double and two RBI for WM. Sophomore Alaina Heard took the pitching loss for the Rams, issuing just two walks and Heard did not hit a batter while striking out four and giving up seven hits.

The Rams had nine hits off winning pitcher Aubree Greenwood, a sophomore. Three players accounted for most of Greene County’s hits with three from sophomore Bellah Johnson, and two each by sophomore Sara Morlan and junior Becca Anderson.

Greene County’s next game is Monday in Jefferson vs. South Hamilton (Jewell) at 7:30 p.m.
