
The AC/GC Chargers baseball and softball teams fell in varsity action to the Woodward-Granger Hawks Monday night.
The baseball team lost 11-4 while the softball team ended the game 16-9. In the baseball game, the Chargers were held scoreless in the first two innings, while the Hawks put up three runs in the first and one in the second. AC/GC then put up three of their own runs in the third, while keeping Woodward-Granger from scoring, and both teams collected one run in the fourth inning. The Chargers were scoreless the rest of the game though, and the Hawks put up three runs in the sixth and two more in the seventh.
Tommy Skram went 2-4 at the plate, including an in-field triple as the second batter up in the fourth inning. Chase Slaybaugh also contributed a big hit, getting an in-field double. From the mound, the team allowed 10 walks and 12 hits, but also collected six strikeouts.
In the softball game, Head Coach Tyler Merical says that the team performed well from the plate, with Karli Kautzky and Caydence Boals both going 3-5, with Boals also putting up a double base hit. Jacie Baker hit a three RBI double for the team. Both teams head to Madrid tonight to take on the Tigers. The Raccoon Valley Radio Sports Network will broadcast the baseball game live on 107.9FM and the KKRF online live stream, with first pitch at 7pm.
