The Adel City Council will meet in regular session tonight.

The council will be considering for approval funds spent on floral arrangements for member Bob Ockerman’s wife’s funeral. The council will review the city’s flowers and sustenance supplies policy to send flowers to employees or family members of theirs who experience a death, and possibly take action following discussion.

Other items on the agenda seeking approval include the first reading to amend an ordinance pertaining to fireworks, plus the first readings to amend ordinances to increase water, sewer and  storm water rates, as well as amending garbage collection rates. Also, the council will consider approving a resolution to set the fiscal year 2025-26 fees for services, a resolution to accept the 2025-26 City of Adel Employee Handbook, a resolution for the final plat of Southbridge Plat 6, and a resolution to accept a preliminary and final plat of White Oak Estates.

More items on the agenda seeking approval feature a resolution for the Central Iowa Regional Transportation Planning Alliance Multijurisdictional application to the U.S. Department of Transportation’s Safe Streets and Road for All Grant Program, a change order for the Adel Water Utility improvements as well as substantial completion for the project.

Also, the council will look to appoint one member to the Board of Adjustment, two members to the Planning and Zoning Commission, two members to Parks and Recreation Board, and two members to the Historic Preservation Commission.

The meeting is open to the public and is taking place tonight at 6pm at Adel City Hall, 301 S. 10th Street. Raccoon Valley Radio will have the results of the meeting later this week.
