A small rural community in Dallas County is holding their first concert of the summer on Saturday.

The first outing for the Meet Me in Minburn concert series is taking place at Meek Park, featuring food, fun, and entertainment. According to Minburn Community Betterment Group Member Megan Cline, this is an event geared towards the whole family as there will be a free will donation meal by the Friends of the Minburn Library, along with free outdoor skating, and a free concert by special musical guest Jake Kemble. She details that the event has been going on since 2008, and really embodies the small town atmosphere.

“It’s a magical park, it’s right in the center of our town. The skating rink used to hold ‘The Singing Wheels.’ Minburn used to put on this great big production with costumes, and music, and people on roller skates putting on a performance. So, having entertainers up on the stage is just the tradition that’s been going on in Minburn for decades.”

Cline mentions that people will be served hot dogs, chips, fruit, and dessert. She highlights that the outdoor skating rink is right in front of the stage and that both children and adults can participate. Cline says that people can either bring their own skates or borrow them from the skate shake next to the stage for free. The meal will be available from 5:30-7pm and Kemble will perform from 7-9pm.
