Adel-DeSoto-Minburn 2025 Graduate Jada Grove will carry a legacy of being the school’s most decorated female soccer player.
This season, Grove helped lead the Tigers to the Iowa Girls High School Athletic Union (IGHSAU) Class 2A State Soccer Semifinals, where they fell 3-1 to Waverly-Shell Rock on June 5th. That marked the final high school game for her, and the end of a magical soccer career. ADM managed to beat Independence 2-1 in the first round, where Grove accounted for both goals, as they came the day following her 19th birthday.
Grove says that she began playing soccer at the age of four as she was trying out different sports, but that is the one that she fell in love with. She’s had two head coaches during her high school career with Jeff Abbas and Rachel Harada, as she credits them both for giving her confidence and leadership skills.
Grove is grateful for the life-long relationships she’s made with her teammates, referring to them as her family, expressing how much of an impact they’ve had on her and how she has been able to slow down to enjoy the little moments over the years.
Grove has left quite a strong impression on the ADM Soccer program as the 2025 season has seen her score the most goals in a single game with seven versus Boone, break Ashlyn Watt’s old tally of 79 career goals to be named the Tigers’ All-Time Leading Goal Scorer, as well as finishing with 100 career goals. Grove was selected to the Class 2A All-Tournament Team to represent the IGHSAU. With all those accomplishments, she graciously praises the game of soccer for giving her those opportunities.
“It means a lot to me, it feels really great, especially having played soccer my entire life. All the time spent traveling up to soccer games or the times spent at training, or other different training sessions that I’ve done over all these years. Just seeing all like the hard work that I’ve put in pay off, felt really good this season.”
Grove explains that the aspect she’ll miss the most about ADM Soccer is the culture of the team and not seeing her friends every day. She was also one of the few athletes that bounced from soccer and track and field, where she is a two-time state champion. Grove tells Raccoon Valley Radio that she will not be pursuing soccer in college, as she’ll be attending the University of Iowa in Iowa City to major in Exercise Science with a concentration in Pre-Physical Therapy.
