The Perry School Board met in regular session on Monday.
Superintendent Clark Wicks tells Raccoon Valley Radio that the Woodward-Granger Community School District submitted a request to become a member of the Heartland of Iowa Activities Conference, starting July 1st, 2026. He describes that the Woodward-Granger Board of Directors unanimously approved the application of membership during their May 19th board meeting and states that the Heart of Iowa Conference fits their school district. Wicks said the board then took action to approve the item.
Wicks explains that other items on the agenda that were approved included a sports medicine services contract with 21st Century Rehab P.C., and a Des Moines Area Community College youth consortium credit recovery agreement, accepting the 2025-26 district calendar, and accepting two 2025-26 service agreements with Heartland Area Education Agency for regional director leadership support and for math consultative services.
Additionally, items that the board approved were a storm protection fund resolution, a Guided Ascent school-based mental health agreement for the 2025-26 school year, summer pay rates for the Perry Academic, Cultural, and Enrichment Services, and Upper Iowa School District clinical placement agreement for the 2025-26 school year, and a Department of Education model policy to implement House File 782 relating to the use of personal electronic devices in school.
