A major road project is coming up soon that will impact motorists in Greene County.
Jefferson Resident Construction Engineer with DOT Jenny Hoskins says US Highway 30 from west of Ogden to the Boone and Greene County line will be repaved. She tells Raccoon Valley Radio the stretch of road will be closed starting Monday, June 16th and will remain closed for 60 days. A detour has been announced to re-route traffic during that time.
Hoskins details the project to include paving over the existing concrete and asphalt of the two-lane portion of the highway with 5.5 inches of new concrete. She explains that the merger of the four-lane to two-lane area that is just west of Ogden on the highway will be completely removed and repaved as well. Hoskins points out as part of the project, there will be a new addition where US Highway 169 conjoins with Highway 30. She notes that a left turn lane will be installed for the eastbound traffic on Highway 30 to go north onto Highway 169, along with re-positioning the right turn lane to offset for westbound traffic to also go north onto Highway 169.
Hoskins adds that the DOT approved the $6,892,425 project this past February to Manatt’s Incorporated. She expects most of the work to be completed within the 60 day period, but should there still be more work to do, there will be pilot cars and flaggers, with traffic being allowed to travel through the area.
