The “Saddle Up” Bell Tower Festival continues tomorrow evening, with the main highlight of recognizing this year’s Tower of Fame Award winner.
The Opening Ceremonies will take place at 6:30pm on the south plaza of the Greene County Courthouse, where Michael Brady will be honored as the 2025 Tower of Fame recipient. Before then, Bell Tower Festival Chair Philip Heisterkamp says the carnival will be opening at 5pm, along with the brew station and vendors around the downtown square. He points out that there are two returning contests with the puzzle competition starting at 7pm and a different version of the Tower Toss starting at 7:30pm.
Heisterkamp explains the puzzle competition as a team of four that must consume a large pizza, drink 12 tall boys of beer or 12 sodas and finish a 500 piece puzzle the quickest will earn a cash prize. As for the Tower Toss, Heisterkamp says to fit the western theme, they are calling it a Boot Toss. People can sign up for free to be entered into a drawing for a chance to toss a boot from 40 feet in the air and the closest to the bullseye on the target will win a cash prize.
Heisterkamp says rounding out the festivities tomorrow night will be the musical entertainment with the duo of The Shuffle Couple beginning at 8pm in a new spot on the intersection of East Lincoln Way and North Chestnut Street.
“And we’re putting them on our ‘Street Stage.’ The first time in a while we’ve had a band down on a stage, on the street next to the brew station. It should make for a really nice, awesome environment. And this allows us to get more going on all at one time. You don’t have to set up and tear down so much and have no break in the action all weekend long.”
Raccoon Valley Radio’s Big Red Radio will also be at the festival doing live broadcasts from 3-7pm tomorrow and 9am-6pm Saturday just south of the Mahanay Memorial Carillon Tower. Click here for more information about the festival.
