Adel-DeSoto-Minburn senior Madi James tallied her third home run of the season, which was enough to skate past Winterset 1-0 at home in softball action on Wednesday.
It was excellent pitching and defense from both ADM and Winterset, as not a single run came in through five complete innings. In the bottom of the sixth, senior Madi James connected on the first pitch from Huskie sophomore Kylie Nelson that went far left and over the wall to give the Tigers a 1-0 lead, which ultimately carried them to the win.
Nelson finished six innings, allowed four hits, one run, walked one batter, and struck out 10 for Winterset. ADM sophomore Makenna Pitlick picked up the win, going five innings, allowed two hits, walked one batter, and captured four strikeouts. Junior Lauren Hagedorn finished with two innings pitched, allowed one hit, and got one strikeout.
The Huskies drop to 7-7 on the year (2-1 RRC), as the Tigers improve to 7-5 overall (3-3 RRC). Winterset will be hosting Carroll today, while ADM is traveling to Alleman to take on second-seeded in Class 4A North Polk tonight for a single game at 7:15pm.
