On Wednesday, the Dallas Center-Grimes Mustangs softball team would face off against the Norwalk Warriors at Norwalk in double header action. Dallas Center-Grimes would split the decision with the Warriors, winning the first game in extra innings 4-3, and fall in the second game 5-3.

In the first contest, Tessa Jones would pitch the complete game four eight innings, only allowing three runs. Short stop Sophia Bauman would single in the top of the sixth bringing two in to score. Tessa Jones would give up a homerun in the bottom of the sixth bringing the game tied 3-3. Jones would keep her composure, finding a gap to score Delaney Fetters to bring the score to 4-3 and would pitch until the end where a fly ball to Fetters would give the Mustangs the victory in the bottom of the eighth 4-3.

In the second contest, the Mustangs would find themselves down 5-0 in the fourth and would notch in three runs. Kale Montag would take the mound for the Mustangs and would allow one run in the first, three in the third, and one more in the fourth. Jones would respond with a double in the fourth to bring in the first run for the Mustangs, as Addison Lyddon would single to bring in Jones’ pinch runner Aniyah Boens. Jenah Gray would hit a double immeditaley after to bring in Lyddon to score but the Warriors would stop the Mustangs momentum defeating DCG 5-3.

The now 15-1 Mustangs return to action on Friday as DCG travels to Pella Christian High School. First pitch is scheduled for 7:15pm.
