
When Perry visited Jefferson on Wednesday to face Greene County in Heart of Iowa Activities Conference baseball, at stake was a second win of the season for the victor, and last place in the league for the team that came up short. The Blue Jays seven runs in the first two innings en route to a 13-6 victory, while the Rams lost their sixth straight and are 1-8 overall and 1-7 in the conference. Perry improves to 2-11, 2-6. Perry had nine hits and one error while the Rams had seven hits and six errors. Senior Crew Conner had two hits, a SAC fly, and one runs batted in. Senior Isaac Carman had a run scoring single with sophomore Brennan Jacobs also getting a base hit and one RBI. Sophomore Zack Stalder and sophomore Jaron Jacobs had singles, as did junior Teagan Chisholm.
Staring pitcher Gavyn Winters, a senior, took the loss and Perry’s starter, Ian Fisher went the first five innings for the win. Senior Geren Kenney led Perry batters with three singles, a double, one walk, and two RBI.
The Rams are off tonight and will host Grand View Christian (Des Moines) on Friday night at Allensworth Field on KG98 and streamed on www.raccoonvalleyradio.com. The Thunder shut out the Rams 4-0 in Des Moines late last month in the first of their two HOIAC matchups.
