The Adel-DeSoto-Minburn Softball Team climbed their way back into the game in Alleman on Thursday to give the second seed in Class 4A, the North Polk Comets their first loss in the Raccoon River Conference, with the Tigers winning 5-4 in eight innings.

North Polk led 3-0 after three innings, following two runs scored in the second and one more in the third. However, ADM would explode in the top of the fifth inning, tallying four runs, before the Comets tied things in the bottom half of the inning at 4-4. The game would go into extra innings, where senior Kennedy Stanford blasted a solo home run to put the Tigers on top, 5-4 in the eighth inning and kept North Polk scoreless in the bottom half, as that would be the final score.

For ADM, sophomore Kinzie Maxwell had two RBIs, with the runs being scored by Stanford, freshman Elliotte Von Roden, freshman Aubrey Noring, junior Ellis Smith, and freshman Peyton Herrick. Winning pitcher was Tigers sophomore Makenna Pitlick, who went five innings, allowed four hits, four runs, walked two batters, and recorded four strikeouts. Freshman Chloe Olthoff came in for three innings and gave up four hits. The losing pitcher was Comets senior Ava Husak, who went the distance of all eight innings, allowed seven hits, five runs, walked two batters, and struck out 11.

North Polk is now 11-2 and suffers their first loss in the RRC at 5-1, while ADM improves to 8-5 overall (4-3 RRC). The Comets are playing in Xavier today for a tournament, and the Tigers will participate in the DJ Classic in North Scott today.
