Coach Tom Kennedy’s Greene County High School softball team fell to 5-4 in the Heart of Iowa Activities Conference and 6-7 overall after losing in Jefferson to Grand View Christian by a 6-1 final on Friday night. The Thunder are 11-3 on the season and 7-2 in conference play.

The Thunder took an early lead at 2-0 and built it up to 6-0 before the Rams scored their only tally in the seventh inning. Greene County had five hits including a single and a double off the outfield fence from junior Becca Anderson. There was a double by sophomore Sara Morlan and singles by sophomore Makenna Ebersole and junior Kaycee Pittman. Sophomore Alaina Heard took the pitching loss. She threw all seven innings, allowing five earned runs on nine hits, one walk and no batters hit with pitches or strikeouts.

The Rams are off until Tuesday when they play a makeup game against this same GVC team at the North Des Moines Girls Softball Complex.
