The Guthrie Center City Council met in regular session Monday night.
The Council approved the first reading of an ordinance regarding recreational vehicles parking, and a resolution for a moral obligation of loan agreement with Little Charger Early Learning Center. They then heard from Streets Superintendent Darin Sloss that instead of replacing the diving board at the Guthrie Center Aquatic Center, a distributor had recommended a paint product to try, and that he’d have City Clerk Kris Arrasmith order some so his department could apply it.
The Council also approved Sloss’s request for the purchase of a camera for the city shop and the purchase of a mini-excavator and tilt trailer, with the cost for both to be split evenly between the city and utilities. They also denied a request for the installation of a chain link fence to which a mesh privacy screen would be installed, as the mesh screen violates city code.
The Council then heard from Arrasmith that swimming lesson forms were available at City Hall or on the city’s website, and Mayor Mike Herbert shared he had a conversation with Guthrie County Sheriff Matt Harmann on the placement of a few cameras around town, and that the sheriff was willing to attend a future Council meeting to share more information.
