On Friday the Dallas Center-Grimes Mustangs baseball and softball teams traveled to Pella Christian High School for battle against the Eagles. Both Mustang teams would come out victorious, as the Mustang softball team defeated the Eagles 8-0 while the Mustang baseball team picked up a 11-3 victory over Pella Christian.

In the softball contest, the Mustangs would quickly establish the lead, scoring four runs in the third, one in the fourth and three more in the sixth. Tessa Jones would get the starting nod for the Mustangs and would pitch through five innings before Kale Montag would finish the game pitching for only one inning. Jaycee Jamison would shine for the Mustangs on offense, ending the night with three hits, a single in the third, a solo home run in the fourth and a double in the sixth in the 8-0 win over the Eagles.

In the baseball contest, Pella Christian would take the lead early scoring two runs in the bottom of the first, but Dallas Center-Grimes would take the lead and never look back in the top of the second score 5 runs. Brady Smith and C Gill would come in to score to tie the game in the second due to wild pitches by the Eagles. Cross Bandy would get the starting nod for the Mustangs, allowing only three runs through four innings, before Tate Perrin would close out the game in two innings. The Mustang offense would score five runs in the second, two in the third, two in the fourth and two final runs in the sixth in the 11-3 victory over Pella Christian.

Mustang softball returns to action today at Creston High School for the John Stephens Classic. DCG faces off against #6 ranked Clarinda first at 9:45am, Ankeny at 3pm, and finally Clarke at 4:45pm.
