
Greene County came from behind twice, but not a third time, and the Rams lost 8-5 in Heart of Iowa Activities Conference baseball in Jefferson on Friday night to Grand View Christian (Des Moines). Trailing 1-0, the Rams led 2-1. Down 3-2, the Rams went up 5-3 after five innings. Three GVC runs in the sixth and two in the seventh were too much to overcome and Greene County fell to 1-9 overall and 1-8 in the conference. The Thunder are 5-1 in league play and 8-5 overall.
The Rams have lost seven straight games and are still looking for their first win at home. Senior Noah Hinote went the first 6-2/3 innings on the mound and took the loss. He allowed eight runs, four earned, on eight hits, one hit batter, and two walks. Hinote recorded four strikeouts.
The Rams were charged with three errors. The Thunder won despite being charged with four errors. Junior Nathan Towers had two singles and two runs batted in for the Rams. Senior Isaac Carman had a two run single and the only other hit was a single by senior Lane Fields that brought in a run.
