
The Adel-DeSoto-Minburn Softball Team was able to pick up two more victories on Friday, as they participated in the DJ Classic in North Scott, with more games happening today.
ADM defeated Pleasant Valley 4-3 followed by a 5-2 win over the host school of North Scott. In the first game against the Spartans, the Tigers trailed 2-0 as they entered the top of the third inning, where they tied things at 2-2, shortly before Pleasant Valley took a 3-2 lead. ADM knotted the game up at 3-3 in the top of the fourth inning, then got a go-ahead run in the top of the fifth, to carry them to the 4-3 win.
Scoring runs in the game was senior Aniston Tollari, who garnered two, then senior Madi James and freshman Aubrey Noring each with one run. All three pitchers played for the Tigers as sophomore Makenna Pitlick went two innings, allowed four hits, two runs, and struck out three batters. Freshman Chloe Olthoff pitched an inning, allowed two hits, one run, and walked one batter, while Hagedorn finished three innings, allowed three hits, and tallied four strikeouts.
ADM then played the second game versus the Lancers, where the Tigers captured one run in the top of the fifth inning, then took off in the top of the seventh with four more runs, as North Scott got two in the bottom half of the inning, but still fell 5-2. Five different players scored runs for ADM including Hagedorn, Pitlick, Olthoff, freshman Elliotte Von Roden, and junior Ellis Smith.
ADM’s Olthoff pitched three innings, allowed two hits and had one strikeout. Meanwhile, Hagedorn went four innings, allowed five hits, two runs, and struck out six batters.
The Tigers play two more games in the DJ Classic today in North Scott, as they’ll battle Dubuque Senior and Bettendorf.
