On Saturday, the Dallas Center-Grimes Mustangs softball team traveled to Creston High School for the John Stephens Classic. The Mustangs would face off against the Clarinda Cardinals and the Ankeny Hawks defeating the Cardinals 10-2 and falling to the Hawks 8-7.

In the match against the Cardinals, the Mustangs would score six runs in the bottom of the first to quickly establish a lead. The Cardinals would score their only two runs of the contest in the top of the second, before the Mustangs would score one more in the second and three more in the fifth in the 10-2 victory over Clarinda. In the contest against the Hawks, both teams would jump on the board early as both teams would score five runs in the first. Ankeny would take a one point lead in the third, scoring three runs while holding the Mustangs to only two in the 8-7 loss to the Hawks.

The Mustangs return to action on Monday and face off against the Pella Dutch. The Mustangs play host to the Dutch for double header action with first pitch of the first game scheduled for 5pm.
