The softball team from Greene County High School is 6-7 overall and 5-4 in the Heart of Iowa Activities Conference. That already two more HOIAC wins and two more overall victories than the 2024 Rams had. That’s the good news.
What lies ahead is a week that could determine weather the Rams can produce a winning record overall and in conference play. Coming off back-to-back losses at Woodward-Granger and at home to Grand View Christian (Des Moines), coach Tom Kennedy’s team is off tomorrow, then has single games Tuesday, Wednesday, Thursday, and Friday, plus two contests in Denison on Saturday at the Denison-Schleswig Tournament.
Three of the contests are against teams the Rams have already lost to, so, assuming all six games get played, the Rams could keep winning season hopes alive with a strong week, or see those hopes diminish if things don’t go well.
Greene County will be on KG98 and streamed on www.raccoonvalleyradio.com on Thurssday the 19th in Jefferson vs. West Marshall (State Center). The Trojans were 7-5 winners over the Rams in their first meeting on a bottom of the seventh two run walk-off homer.
