The AC/GC Chargers took on the Panorama Panthers in varsity doubleheader softball action Monday night, losing the first game 16-4 and ending the second in a 3-3 tie due to weather.

In game one of the varsity doubleheader, the Chargers picked up a run in the first inning, while the Panthers tallied four. AC/GC was held scoreless in the second and third innings, while Panorama picked up four more runs for each inning. In the fourth inning the Chargers secured three runs while the Panthers put up another four, finishing the game in a 16-4 loss for AC/GC. For the Panthers, senior Arilyn Steenblock knocked one out of the park for a grand slam, and later on Lexi Galvan hit a two run double.

Game two was only one inning, with the Chargers opening strong. Jayla Hoover drew a walk to be the first on base. Camdyn Richter hit a ground ball to third, advancing Hoover and making it to first herself. Following Richter’s at bat, Kailee Kautzky launched the ball into right field, getting a two RBI triple. Senior Belle Fagan collected the last RBI, hitting a ground ball to short stop for the single base hit, allowing Kautzky to advance home.

Things then moved into the bottom of the inning, and Galvan was the first on base by drawing a walk. Lea Kastner secured a single base hit, and Bridgete White also hit a single, loading the bases. Andrea Knode hit strong on her turn at bat, sending the ball deep into center field for the three RBI double. As the game moved into the second inning, it was called off as severe weather made its way into the area.
