On Monday the Dallas Center-Grimes Mustangs were scheduled to face off against the Pella Dutch at home for double header softball and baseball action. The weather would only allow for both teams to play one game, with the Mustang softball team defeating Pella 17-0 while the DCG baseball team would fall to the Dutch in extra innings 13-12.

In the girls contest, a big third inning would be the nail in the coffin for the Dutch as the Mustangs would score ten runs in the bottom of the third. Sophia Bauman would be a thorn in Pella’s side, going a perfect three for three in the box as Bauman would hit a triple in the second, a single in the third, and a homerun over left field in the third. Tessa Jones got the starting nod for the Mustangs and pitched a shut out through four innings in the 17-0 victory over the Dutch.

In the baseball contest, the Mustangs would begin to derail in the top of sixth while ahead of the Dutch 10-4. The Dutch would rally, scoring six runs in the sixth to tie the game. The Mustangs would respond with one more run, but the Dutch would match it, leading the match into extra innings. Pella would notch in two more runs in the top of the eighth while holding DCG to only one run as the Mustangs fell to Pella 13-12 in heartbreaking fashion.
