Starting today, the Greene County softball team will face the top three teams in the Heart of Iowa Activities Conference on three consecutive days this week, weather permitting. Coach Tom Kennedy’s Rams will be in Des Moines for a matchup tonight vs. Grand View Christian, a team they lost to on June 13 by a 6-1 score in Jefferson. The Thunder entered this week at 13-3 overall and 8-2 in the HOIAC.

The Rams go to Class 3A number four PCM in Monroe on Wednesday to face the league leading Mustangs, who are started the week at 10-0 in the HOIAC and already own a 7-0 victory over Greene County in late May. Thursday’s game is with West Marshall (State Center), who began the week at 7-3 in the conference. The Trojans downed the Rams on a walk-off bottom of the seventh inning homer at State Center in their first meeting this season, by a 7-5 final. Thursday’s 7:30 p,m. contest will be broadcast on KG98 and streamed on www.raccoonvalleyradio.com.

The Rams stay at home Friday vs. Nevada with the Rams trying for the two game season series sweep of the Cubs. The Denison-Schleswig Tournament in Denison has the Rams playing Ridge View (Holstein) on Saturday morning at 10, followed by a 2 p.m. contest vs. Glenwood. Greene County is 5-4 in the conference and 6-7 overall.
