The Adel-DeSoto-Minburn Softball Team won their seventh consecutive game on Monday in Huxley taking on Ballard, but fought off a serious rally to win 11-7, then are hanging onto a 4-0 lead in the second game of the double header after it was postponed with severe weather in the area, with a potential time to resume on Thursday.

The Tigers erupted out of the gate with four runs scored in the top of the first inning, two in the second, and one in the third inning to lead comfortably 7-0 through three. The Bombers managed to get on the scoreboard with one run in the bottom of the fifth inning, then ADM extended to an 8-1 advantage following a single run in the top of the sixth. However, in the bottom half of the inning, Ballard’s bats came alive, getting six across home plate and suddenly trailed 8-7. The Tigers added some extra cushion in the top of the seventh with three more runs that carried them to a 11-7 victory.

Runs that were scored by ADM included Lauren Hagedorn with two, Kennedy Stanford with two, then one run for Elliotte Von Roden, Kinzie Maxwell, Madi James, Ellis Smith, Peyton Herrick, Addison Siedelmann, and Kate Darling. Hagedorn and Maxwell each had solo home runs in the game. Pitching wise, Makenna Pitlick went 5.2 innings, allowed three hits, one run, walked five batters, and had five strikeouts. The losing pitcher was Cailey Horner, who went all seven innings, allowed 12 hits, 11 runs, and walked four batters.

Game number two is delayed in the top of the third inning, as the Tigers possess a 4-0 lead, getting all four runs in the top of the second. Von Roden, Hagedorn, Pitlick, and Aniston Tollari are the individuals that are responsible for the runs. Starting pitcher for the Bombers is Emmalyn Kruse, who through two innings has allowed seven hits, four runs, walked a batter and struck out two. On the mound for ADM is Reese Vande Noord, who has walked two batters and captured one strikeout through two innings.

ADM Activities Director Rod Wiebers tells Raccoon Valley Radio that the second game will be played on Thursday at 11am at Ballard Middle School in Huxley.
