An Urbandale man was recently arrested for alleged sex abuse of a minor in Greene County.

According to court documents, the Greene County Sheriff’s Office investigated the incident that happened on June 14th, when the Spring Lake Park Ranger saw what  appeared to be a sex act in a vehicle that was parked near the playground area after hours. Court documents show that when questioned, Greg Pendergraft of Urbandale, lied about his age, claiming that he was 17 when he was really 20 years old. It was also discovered that the victim was a young teen and not of legal age of consent in Iowa.

According to the criminal complaint, the ranger issued Pendergraft a citation for being under age in possession of a vapor product, after seeing a device in the vehicle and he was then released from the scene. During the investigation, it was also discovered that Pendergraft allegedly used the internet, via an electronic device, to seduce the victim into having sex. An arrest warrant was issued on June 16th charging Pendergraft with a Class C Felony for third degree sexual abuse of a child/minor victim that is four or more years older and a Class D Felony for grooming.

Court documents show that Pendergraft was arrested in Winterset on June 18th and he was booked and remains in the Greene County Jail under a $15,000 cash only bond. Raccoon Valley Radio will bring you more information as it becomes official.
