
On Wednesday the Dallas Center-Grimes Mustangs traveled to Oskaloosa for baseball and softball action against the Indians. The Mustangs would split the decision against the Indians, as DCG softball would steamroll the Indians 12-0 while Mustang baseball would fall to Oskaloosa 2-0.
Everything seemed to be would seem to be working for the Mustang softball team as they would notch in 16 hits and 11 RBIs in the 12-0 victory over Oskaloosa. Tessa Jones would find success on both sides of the ball, pitching the entire game allowing only three hits while achieving six strike outs, while going 2-2 from the box with three RBIs hitting a two run homerun in the top of the second. Four Mustangs would hit homeruns alongside Jones, as Jenah Gray would hit a homerun in the first, Addison Lyddon would hit hers in the top of the second before Jones, then Genevieve York would score the final run for the Mustangs with a homerun in the top of the fourth.
DCG baseball would outhit the Indians but would not be able to score in the 2-0 loss to Oskaloosa. Caethan Stocker, Tate Brendaland, and Carson Gill would all get a hit, while Cross Bandy would double to right field in the top of the first, and hit a single in the seventh. Lincoln Harris would pitch the entire game going for six innings, allowing two runs off four hits and an error with three strikeouts in the 2-0 loss to Oskaloosa.
DCG softball advances to 20-2 while Mustang baseball falls to 12-7. Both teams prepare for double header action on Friday as DCG travels to Indianola to face off against the Indians. Baseball will play at 5 and 7pm while softball begins at 5:30 and 7:30pm.
