The Perry Public Library is bringing an older video game to life with a fun summer program, starting on Monday.

According to Youth Services Librarian Laura Pieper, the library is holding a Life-Size Oregon Trail for everyone to participate in. She shares that last year they created a Life-Size Candyland playground that was really popular with families. Pieper details the concept of the game is to join a team and set forth on a cross country journey across the library from Missouri to Oregon.

“You got to choose how you’re going to cross the rivers, talk to the Native Americans, hunt, and hopefully not die of dysentery along the way.”

Pieper mentions that it’s a choose your own adventure game intended to feature the whole family. She adds that the event is completely free and no registration is required, as it will be taking place from Monday through July 3rd at the Perry Public Library, 1101 Willis Avenue. Any questions can be directed to the library at (515)-465-3569.
