The Adair – Casey / Guthrie Center School Boards met in regular joint session Wednesday night.
Superintendent Josh Rasmussen says the meeting started with a discussion about some upcoming dates that include the 2025 School Board election filing period from August 25th to September 15th. He tells Raccoon Valley Radio that they also discussed spring 2025 Iowa Statewide Assessment of Student Progress scores.
“Our scores have improved even from last year. You know, last year the AC Elementary and (AC/GC) Junior High were considered ‘high performing’ with our school report cards. GC Elementary and (AC/GC) High School were ‘commendable’, both very close to being high performing. So with some improvements there, I’m just really proud of the work that our staff has done. All teachers and all support staff that really help and touch our kids have done a great job academically and created this culture of academic excellence at AC/GC Schools.”
Rasmussen mentions that the Boards approved the 2025-26 property/casualty insurance renewal, a resolution regarding a 28E agreement for a Storm Protection Fund, audit services and the Teacher Leadership and Compensation contracts. He adds that they also approved operational sharing and 28E agreements between the two districts, milk/bread bids, and the first reading of a Board policy on student use of personal electronic devices. Rasmussen shares that the AC Board also denied to renew their equipment breakdown insurance, as they felt they weren’t getting their money’s worth, and approved a classroom heat pump replacement bid.
