
With the extremely hot temperatures that are coming through central Iowa this weekend, the Dallas County Emergency Management Agency announces where several cooling centers are in the area.
According to Dallas County EMA Director AJ Seely, they have engaged the Extreme Temperature Plan through Sunday evening, meaning that several locations will act as cooling centers. Most of the spots are the libraries in each community, including in Perry, Adel, Minburn, Dexter, and the Roy R Estele Memorial Library in Dallas Center.
Seely emphasizes that cooling centers are facilities where people can temporarily go during periods of extreme heat. He adds that residents are encouraged to check in on family members, friends, and neighbors who are at higher risk for injuries or illnesses, and recommends limiting time outdoors for children and pets.
