Two international corporations recently announced they would build facilities in the Perry community, as City Administrator Sven Peterson expresses his gratitude for that good fortune. following the closure of the Tyson Foods Pork Plant in 2024.

Peterson outlines that with the Tyson Foods Pork Plant shutdown last year, it laid off close to 1,300 people, with many of them being Perry residents, forcing them to find work elsewhere. He tells Raccoon Valley Radio that some people were able to find occupations in town, but others are traveling between 30 minutes to an hour or longer to a new job.

However, relief is on the way with the recent announcement of, Italian-based company ADR Axles would build its North American headquarters in Perry that would produce 35 jobs to start, and then JBS USA, out of Colorado, is going to build a meatpacking facility and create 250 jobs, with the hope of growing to 500. With many former Tyson employees that are now traveling a great distance to get to their new jobs, Peterson is hoping that these two corporations will be able to keep residents investing in Perry.

“From a community standpoint, we want those folks back in Perry being able to live and work and raise their families. And what’s been on my mind too is that also is really going to help those families that’s an hour, two hours or more, every day or even being home during the week that those families will be able to be spending that time together, instead of on the road.”

Peterson mentions that ADR Axles is looking to build a 54,000 square foot facility at Perry’s Industrial Park that will cost around $14 million and JBS USA is investing $135 million as they are in the midst of re-zoning for potential land. He reveals that both projects are slated to have construction start this year and plan to open sometime in 2026.
