jensen-yard-of-the-month-6-2025

The Jefferson Garden Club announced its pick of this month to receive a specialized honor.

The home of Al and Ann Jensen was named Yard of the Month for June. According to the Garden Club, the landscape of the 1904 built home at 306 East Park Street has several planters and window boxes in the front with geranium, petunias, gerber daisies, marigolds and more, that are in full bloom. Additionally, the Garden Club notes that hanging baskets contain Boston ferns on the front porch.

The Garden Club says there are more window boxes on the north side of the house that have more colorful flowers, along with a planting ring surrounding a large shade tree with even more blooming flowers. The Garden Club adds that several hostas complete the overall look of the Jensen home on the north side of the garage. Ann retired three years ago after 40 years in education with the Coon Rapids-Bayard School District as an English teacher and Al worked in the Greene County Auditor’s Office and the Engineer’s Office before he retired from full-time work. He works at Ace Hardware in his “semi-retirement” stage of life.
