A Jefferson resident is the newest representative on a statewide board for a certain livestock industry.

According to the Iowa Pork Producers Association (IPPA), Robert Carman was announced as a board member who brings lots of first-hand experience to their organization. The IPPA says Carman’s interest in swine started at an early age and grew over time as he graduated from Iowa State University with a finance degree.

IPPA notes that Carman now operates two contract nurseries and also works for Farm Credit Services of America as a Corporate Swine Lender, which gives him the ability to have a comprehensive view of the industry that brings together the practical side of production knowledge, along with a financial insight. Carman says he is passionate about the swine business for not only the animal care but also the consumption of the product.

Carman is married to his wife Morgan and they have two children.
