St. Patrick’s Catholic School in Perry is gearing up for a fun summer event tomorrow, that will be held inside with the anticipated heat coming in.

The school will be hosting the second annual Summerfest, which has been moved from the South Green Parking Lot to the school gym. Principal Kandice Patillo shares the idea came from Father Litto Thomas, as he wanted to honor the variety of cultures that make up the local parish in Perry. She outlines that there will be a potluck-style meal available for people to bring their favorite dishes, plus the Hispanic community will cook food from four different cultures, and The Knights of Columbus is roasting a hog. Patillo explains there will be inflatables for the youth, face painting, dancers performing, then live music, as she reveals notable moments from last year’s event.

“There was a dunk tank, and Father Litto happened to get up in the dunk tank and that was a lot of fun. I enjoyed seeing all the little kids running around, it was just a nice time to see the youth of our parish and the youth of our community just out having fun, and enjoying themselves.”

Patillo notes that following the tragic shooting that occurred at Perry High School in 2024, they created the event to generate positivity back into the community. She invites people of all ages to stop by as the event will run from noon to 5pm tomorrow.
