
The Adel-DeSoto-Minburn Baseball Team hosted a non-conference matchup against Earlham on Friday, as they were defeated 7-5 at home.
The Tigers were trying to end a four-game losing streak, as they stormed out the gates in the bottom of the first inning grabbing three runs to take an early 3-0 lead. However, in the top of the second, the Cardinals would get two back to bring it to a 3-2 game. ADM responded in the bottom of third inning, capturing two more runs to extend it back to 5-2.
From there, Earlham notched two runs each in the fourth and fifth innings, to give them their first advantage of the night at 6-5. The Cardinals would add an insurance run in the top of the seventh inning, which would carry them to a 7-5 victory.
Tiger players that tallied runs included freshman Alex Jensen, sophomore Jack Siefken, then seniors Jaxson Book, Grant Jansen, and Cade Fisher.
The losing pitcher was ADM junior Cael Stanford, who went 3 innings, allowed 4 hits, 4 runs, and struck out 2. Freshman Ben Grife pitched 2 innings, allowing 3 hits, 2 runs, walked a batter, with a strikeout, then it was sophomore Cole Waddingham going 2 innings, allowing 2 hits and one run.
Cardinal sophomore Cash Eitel went 3 innings, allowed 3 hits and 5 runs, while Konnar Stiles completed 4 innings, giving up 3 hits, and struck out 2.
Earlham is now 8-13 on the season and will have a double header versus Pleasantville tomorrow, while ADM drops to 6-16 and will host Raccoon River Conference opponent Gilbert in a double header in Adel tomorrow, starting at 5pm.
