The Raccoon Valley Radio area may see some possible severe weather later today.

According to the National Weather Service Greene, Guthrie and Dallas Counties are at a slight risk of potential severe weather, which is a category two on their five category scale for severe weather risk. The National Weather Service says the main hazards with the possible scattered storms includes strong and damaging winds, hail and heavy rainfall, with the peak timing between 2 and 9pm. According to the NWS, over the next three days there is also the potential for widespread precipitation that may be over two inches through Wednesday and there could also be flash flooding in rural areas.

Raccoon Valley Radio’s Severe Weather Action Team provides live coverage anytime there is a severe thunderstorm or tornado warning for Greene, Dallas, Guthrie, and Adair Counties. During the Severe Weather Action Team coverage, meteorologists, law enforcement, emergency management coordinators, and others make reports to keep everyone in those counties as safe as possible from severe weather. Coverage of those storms continues until they move out of the listening area or drop below severe levels.
