A Perry man was sentenced to prison after pleading guilty to a felony charge from an incident late March.

According to court documents, 28-year-old Jonathan Corado Melendrez pled guilty to a Class D Felony for his third or subsequent offense for domestic abuse assault. He was sentenced to five years in prison, which will be served concurrently with five other un-related cases for a total of five years.

The charge stemmed from an incident that occurred on March 27th when the Perry Police Department responded to a domestic disturbance call from a residence where the victim had visible injuries that were caused by Melendrez.

According to court documents, as per the plea agreement, Melendrez had the other Class D Felony charge for domestic abuse-impeding air/blood flow causing bodily injury and the 28 violations of a no contact order were dismissed. In addition, he must pay victim restitution of $1,025 and the statutory surcharge of $90. Additionally, the no contact order with the victim was extended for five more years.
