
Greene County lost a Heart of Iowa Activities Conference baseball game on Monday in Story City vs. Roland-Story by a 5-1 final. The Rams are 2-11 on the season and 2-9 in the conference while R-S improved to 14-7, 7-5. R-S completed the two game HOIAC sweep vs. the Rams after winning in Jefferson earlier this month, 10-0.
On Monday, the Norsemen had five hits and no errors. Greene County had four hits including a double from senior Crew Conner. Senior Gavyn Winters had a single and the lone run batted in, while seniors Noah Hinote and Camden Jacobs added base hits. The Norsemen struck the Rams out 11 times. The contest was tied 1-1 through 4-1/2 innings before R-S scored four times in the bottom of the fifth. Junior Teagan Chisholm took the pitching loss after going five innings. He allowed all five runs, but only three earned runs on five hits, two walks, and one batter hit with a pitch. Chisholm struck out five Norsemen. Jacobs pitched one inning and did not allow any hits, runs, or walks. He had one strikeout.
The Rams host Manson-Northwest Webster tonight at Allensworth Field in Jefferson on KG98 and streamed on www.raccoonvalleyradio.com. The Cougars entered this week still looking for win number one this season. Air time is scheduled for shortly after 7 p.m. with first pitch around 7:30.
