Close to two dozen students from Adel-DeSoto-Minburn Middle School helped design a bright spectacle in Adel.
Adel Partners Chamber of Commerce Board President Erin Milroy explains that they wanted a way to celebrate the artwork as well as the trails in Adel, and worked with the Chamber Arts and Trails Committee to create a mural on the ground by Uptown Vintage Market on the east side of Main Street.
Milroy highlights that the mural includes the Dallas County Courthouse and signature Adel bricks. She describes that 21 students added their own pattern to the mural as well with their signatures to commemorate their work. Milroy believes that it’s special that the students had a chance to contribute a piece of themselves to the community.
“I think it gives them an opportunity to participate in the city (of Adel), and have that memory that they’ll come back to and want to continue to give back in a civic way, and they volunteered their time. So we were thrilled to have that opportunity for them as well.”
Milroy mentions that since the mural is on the ground and will see quite a bit of foot traffic, city crews will do their best to keep up maintenance in order to have it stand for a long time.
