During the Adair – Casey / Guthrie Center joint School Board meeting in June, administrators for the three buildings in the two districts shared some updates with the Boards.
Superintendent Josh Rasmussen says that both the elementary principals shared the progress their staff were making with learning the new reading curriculum for elementary students, along with an update from himself on progress of the roof replacement project for the AC Elementary AC/GC Junior High building. He tells Raccoon Valley Radio that there was also an update from the athletic conference that the high school participates in.
“Also had a quick discussion. I know the conference realignment is something that’s been going on across the state and (the) West Central Activities Conference had two schools that are leaving. We found out Woodward-Granger and Des Moines Christian will be leaving our conference after this next year. Wood-Granger will join the Heart of Iowa (Conference), Des Moines Christian the Little Hawkeye Conference. You know, both (have) been great members for us. Obviously really good competition in the West Central Activities Conference, but we met as superintendents and ADs, and the remaining nine schools are really committed to our conference. A lot of like schools remain, and (are) highly competitive, and really good for each of the member schools.”
Rasmussen mentions that the Boards also heard about how coaching positions have been filled, and how they are preparing for interviews for paraeducator positions. He adds that the high school is also looking for an English/Language Arts teacher.
