The Guthrie Center City Council met in regular session Monday night.
The Council approved the renewal of the city’s worker’s compensation policy with EMC and State Street Insurance, tabled a decision on allowing chickens in residential zoned areas of town, and approved the second reading along with waiving the third reading for final adoption of an ordinance amending an ordinance regarding recreational vehicle parking.
The Board also heard an update from City Clerk Kris Arrasmith, who gave a recap on the citywide garage sales and clean up, mentioning there had been 29 locations that participated in the garage sales. She added that for the clean up, they also collected 16.8 tons of junk, making 37 trips to the transfer station, and picked up 24 TV’s, four fridges, three freezers, three air conditioning units, a water cooler and a de-humidifier. Arrasmith mentioned that the back door for City Hall is not sealing properly, allowing air to leak around it. A replacement from Haver Lumber has been ordered and will be installed later in the summer.
