The Jefferson City Council met Tuesday night in regular session.

The meeting started with a public hearing to sell property at 105 North Walnut Street to Region XII Council of Governments. Karla Janning with Region XII stated that it would be an extensive rehabilitation of the home with new siding and roof, removal of trees growing in the gutters, to new appliances, flooring, cabinetry in the kitchen and a complete bathroom remodel. The initial cost estimate was between $100,000-$110,000. Then, following the hearing, the Council approved the resolution to sell it to Region XII for $100.

Next, the Council approved the second reading for an ordinance to create a Blight District within the Urban Renewal Area, as well as the seal-coating street project for $45,105 to Blacktop Service Company and a crack-sealing street project for $48,416 to Denco. The Council then heard an update from the Greene County Development Corporation Interim Director Michelle Book. She talked about how after she was initially hired to facilitate the Vision 2030 initiative and developed several project areas from that, she was then named the interim director for GCDC following the former director stepping down.

Book noted that Vision 2030 was on a pause while GCDC focused on a new direction for a director and Book went over those options. Those included a state or national-wide search, partnering with another successful entity in the county, or partnering with a regional organization in Iowa.
