The Greene County High School softball team picked up its season best sixth win in a row when the Rams won 7-3 vs. Manson-Northwest Webster on Tuesday night in Jefferson. The non-conference victory improved the Rams to 12-9 on the season while the Cougars fell to 5-12.

Sophomore pitcher Alaina Heard struck out 10 batters, one night after fanning 13 at Roland-Story. She allowed three earned runs on seven hits, and one walk. The Rams played errorless defense.

Heard, sophomore Makenna Ebersole, and junior Kaycee Pittman, each drove in a run. Senior Payton Kokenge singled twice and doubled once. Junior Becca Anderson and Ebersole each had two singles. Sophomore Sara Morlan and Pittman each had one base hit.

The Rams play Saydel in Des Moines tonight, weather permitting, then go to Denison tomorrow night to face Denison-Schleswig to round out the week. Both the Eagles and Monarchs are well below the .500 mark.
