The Adel City Council met in regular session on Monday.

According to Mayor Jim Peters, the council was looking to take possible action on a resolution for the final plat of Southbridge Plat 6 in the southern portion of Adel. He explains that the contractor Robert Cramer is planning to build houses, utilities and streets for residential use. Peters outlines that Cramer will be installing a five acre pond and walking trail for public use, except for a few dedicated areas that will be reserved for private use. Peters notes that there will be clear distinct signage to indicate whether the area is open to the public or shielded off for private use. He confirms that the council tabled a decision on the resolution as they work through the logistics of the modification and Cramer will return during the July 8th meeting with an updated resolution.

Peters tells Raccoon Valley Radio that items on the agenda that the council approved included a resolution to set the fiscal year 2025-26 fees for services as presented beginning on July 1st, an acceptance of funds spent on flower arrangements for City Council member James West’s father-in-law’s funeral for a total amount of $101.65, a resolution for an agreement with Bray Associates Architects Incorporated for the facility needs assessment in relation to the police and fire station and operation analysis for fire services, and a resolution for an agreement with McGrath Consulting Group Incorporated for the operational and staffing assessment related to the fire facility needs assessment.

Peters adds that the council held the second readings and waived the third readings for final adoption to amend the ordinances to increase the water, sewer, storm water and garbage collection rates to start July 1st.
