A Friday afternoon fire destroyed a structure in Dallas Center.
According to the Dallas County Sheriff’s Office, a metal outbuilding was on fire when deputies responded to 27643 250th Street at 12:45pm. The Sheriff’s Office says the owner was on scene and they were not in the fire. The Dallas Center Fire Department tells Raccoon Valley Radio there were several vehicles inside the building, where some were able to be saved and others were not after the structure burned down.
The Sheriff’s Office says the cause of the fire was from a controlled burn that got out of control and caught the outbuilding on fire. No one was hurt from the incident. Several fire departments assisted at the scene including Dallas Center, Adel, Johnston-Grimes, Minburn, Waukee, and Urbandale, along with Dallas County EMS.
