The win streak for the Adel-DeSoto-Minburn Softball Team reached 13, with the help of junior Lauren Hagedorn’s offensive prowess to defeat Winterset 4-1 on the road in six innings on Thursday.
According to ADM Activities Director Rod Wiebers, the umpires decided to call the game in the bottom of the sixth inning following lightning in the area. However, the Tigers captured all four runs in the top of the 4th inning, when freshman Aubrey Noring came in to make it 1-0 after a sacrifice fly from senior Aniston Tollari to put her on first base, and advance junior Ellis Smith to second.
Next up to the plate was junior Lauren Hagedorn, who blasted a 3-run homer out to left field to pad the lead 4-0. The Huskies responded in the bottom half of the 4th, when senior Zoey Breeding doubled to score senior Ashlynn Devine, but wouldn’t get anymore runs and the final score would finish at 4-1.
Winning pitcher was ADM sophomore Makenna Pitlick, who went 3 innings, allowed 5 hits, 1 run, and garnered 1 strikeout. Hagedorn pitched 2 innings and tallied 3 strikeouts. The losing pitcher was Winterset sophomore Kylie Nelson, who went 5.2 innings, allowed 6 hits, 4 runs, and struck out 2.
The Huskies fall to 18-10 overall (6-4 inside the Raccoon River Conference), and the Tigers extend their win streak to 13, improving to 19-5 (8-3 RRC). Winterset will travel to Waukee tonight to face off against the Warriors, as ADM is off until Monday, where they will host Carlisle at noon in Adel.
