The Minburn Firefighters Association was one of the many recipients of a generous grant from the Dallas County Foundation, as they’re using the money to help out in a needed way.

According to Fire Chief Dan Case, the Firefighters Association was given a $10,000 grant to use towards new bunker gear. He says the equipment is essential protection for the volunteer firefighters to use when dealing with an emergency situation. Case notes that the organization tries to replace the gear every 10 years and that the $10,000 grant was able to purchase three new sets. He appreciates the generosity shown by the Dallas County Foundation.

“Without grant funding and donations like that, it just makes it very hard for really any small community to be able to keep their equipment up to date and so forth. So it plays a very important role in enabling us and others like us to be able to do that.”

Case describes that it costs approximately $4,000 for a full set of bunker gear and acknowledges that the grant came at a great time pointing out that Minburn has added several volunteer firefighters to their squad.
