The Yale Jamaica Bagley (YJB) Time, Talent and Treasure (TTT) Club is getting ready for one of their yearly events, but just what is the organization?
YJB TTT President Pat Young says that Tri-T was started in Mount Pleasant in 1911 by six women who realized that there weren’t many things for girls to do at the time, and decided to work to be able to allow girls to attend different camps. She tells Raccoon Valley Radio about their own club.
“We currently have 16 members, and I always feel like we really do have a great team in this area, and everybody participates and does certain parts of what our chapter does, with the main mission of sending young girls to camp for a week. And when the girls go, we pay for the camp for the week, and in this area our girls go to the ‘Y’ camp in Boone. And we fully pay the way, and we also take the girls shopping before they go and buy clothing and any other necessities they need to attend camp.”
Young mentions that their club has sent 74 girls to camp. She adds that afterwards the group follows the girls throughout their time at Panorama Community School District, and offers them a $500 scholarship when they graduate.
